Education in Emergencies in South Sudan
Duor is on his way to deliver school bags to the handful of temporary learning spaces that Finn Church Aid has constructed to get the children of New Fangak into school. Conflict had forced many children to learn under trees, with lessons cut short due to the stifling heat or the driving rain. They are not perfect structures, just made out of local materials like reed and mud, but they are full to the brim with enthusiastic young minds. Future leaders perhaps? Now wouldn’t that be great!

WFP Uganda gets ready to deliver cash in an emergency
With Uganda already facing an influx of 1 milllion South Sudanese refugees it was important the World Food Programme’s country office to be cash ready, as it had been proven that if the markets exist, cash can often be a better form of assistance than food. With support from DFID, WFP Uganda underwent a training drill to get the team Cash Based Transfer ready in a simuluated emergency held in Jinja. How do you get your team to be CBT ready? It’s more complicated that it sounds!
